Client: City of Toronto - Rexdale Community Hub with ArtWorksTO

Brief: The Rexdale Employment & Social Services Centre (RESS), a division of City of Toronto’s Employment & Social Services, aims to welcome visitors and newcomers by livening up the front entrance wall space with custom artwork.

Guided by the members of RESS, this mural was developed over 3 months with many changes made during its creation. Many thanks to Sabita, Gillian, and Stephen for all the feedback.

Final mural is a 4x6 ft digital illustration printed on acrylic panel.

The goals of the art are to:

● Bring more vibrancy to the space by creating a welcoming atmosphere

● Emphasize RESS’ dedication to DEI by showcasing diversity within the subjects depicted, promoting the message “you are welcome here”

● Inspire optimism, hope, resiliency

● Connect with residents in the community
